Entrepreneurs are known to be more involved in the tender system issued by government, and is a system that I think is aimed at empowering businesses small, medium and large, to further enhance service delivery to the people of South Africa. Unfortunately this system is suffering from corruption including fraud and money laundering.
Tenderpreneurs are also known to be living lavish lifestyle, but the sad part is that they mostly don’t complete the assignment given, while they are busy spending on their personal endeavors. We often hear cases of uncompleted projects and those projects worth millions which spend less than what is given and pocket the rest.
Earlier today, we received news that one the well known tenderpreneur Hamilton Ndlovu was ordered to pay back R158 millions of the R172 millions he had unlawfully scored from a contract with the National Health Laboratory Services. The money was acquired through a fraudulent Covid 19 PPE contract.
Tuesday 07 June 2022, Judge Lebogang Modiba handed down the judgement electronically, wherein the Special Tribunal ordered that Ndlovu ‘s business be forfeited. The famous Ndlovu will no longer be allowed to do any business with the state.
The businessman became famous and under the spotlight, when he was posting his lavish lifestyle and numerous luxury cars on social media platforms, his behavior triggered attentions of the law enforcement on his back for investigation, and he is finally dancing to the music of his tune.
As I always do, I commend the law enforcement agencies who are in most cases be criticized for failing to break their cases and bring it to finality, they have done well and I encourage that those who are found to be looting state money must face the music.
