ALLEGEDLY failing to respect time has landed comedian Felix Hlophe in hot water.
It is alleged that Gagasi FM was forced to suspend and put Felix off air for a whole month.
Felix co-hosts a breakfast show with Njabs Zwane on the Durban-based radio station.
It is alleged that he has been getting warnings for arriving late at work.
One of his colleagues said Felix has the “African time” tendency.
“This guy has a problem. He doesn’t respect time. He always arrives late and that inconveniences everyone.
“The management has been talking to him about the importance of keeping time. He pretends as if he understands, but he does the same thing the next morning. Let’s hope that the suspension will serve as a wake-up call,” said the colleague.
Another source close to the situation said the management does not want to expel him because of his experience and the way he does his job.
“His show is doing well. That’s why the management returned him to the same show during the annual changes of shows and DJs.
“He knows that he’s good and that the management loves his job. That’s why he comes to work at his own time. “Although the management is not planning to fire him, he must know that nobody is irreplaceable,” said the source.
Gagasi FM spokesman Khulekani Shandu confirmed that Felix was suspended.
He refused to reveal the reason behind his suspension.
“He will be back on air next month. That’s all I can say,” said Khulekani.Shandu.
Felix wouldn’t provide much information about his suspension either.
“Please contact Gagasi FM for information,” he said.
