The masses have been calling for President Cyril Ramaphosa to act decisively when dealing with corruption. Whistleblowers have been treated like pariahs, which is counterintuitive and makes the whole anti-corruption message ring hollow.
ANC member Phadima Fukula went missing after an explosive affidavit stating that Acting Chief Justice Raymond Zondo was paid R5 million from the CR17 campaign fund and also alleged that the Hawks were trying to kill him.
This angered the masses, concluding that the public is in an animal farm where the law does not speak the same language to all people, that contradictory judgments are the order of the day in the majority of the courts.
A lot of people have been worried about Fukula, citing that whistleblowers are trying to save the country but are treated like enemies. Others were hoping that besides being implicated in corruption, President Cyril Ramaphosa would alleviate Fukula’s plight by offering him a place of safety.
Report
According to several sources, Fukula has been arrested by the Hawks while hiding in Johannesburg. He is currently in police custody and has been transported to the Eastern Cape. It is not clear what charges he is facing or when his court appearance will be.
The masses are demanding to know why Fukula was arrested and why he is being detained by the Hawks whom he accused of attempted murder. Others, on the other hand, are pleased and relieved that he is alive and safe.
Is it not surprising that Fukula has come out of his hiding place now that Ramaphosa must pick a chief justice? What does this mean for Zondo? Are his chances of being selected slim?
Ramaphosa is ANC. He has made it clear that he works for the unity of the ANC. A whistleblower, an honest employee, and a law enforcer are bound to stand in Ramaphosa’s way of uniting the ANC.
Instead of being arrested, Fukula needs witness protection from the reprisals.
Well, the Hawks have been trying to find Fukula for some time to help them in a corruption case in the Eastern Cape. Does it have to do with Oscar Mabuyane?
Only time will tell.
