The Africa diaspora Forum is pissed by some members of the vigilante group that call itself Operation Dudula for attempting to instigate xenophobia attacks against foreign nationals. The group was in Hillbrow yesterday where it was met with heavy police presence, teargas, water cannon, and rubber bullets after it attempted to ransack some houses in the area.
The police who were manning the properties said that no person will be allowed to do as they please in the area without a warrant from a South African court. The group which say they were in the area to “clean up” foreign nationals were left disappointed with the stance of the police.
One leader even accuses the police of receiving bribes from the criminals in the neighborhood and selling out the country. He said that the police in some areas has allowed them to terrorize the communities, searching and ransacking informal trading areas but in Hillbrow, they are barricading the area.
However, Africa Diaspora Forum welcomes the presence of SAPS and the brilliant work that they are doing to make sure that people and properties are protected at all costs. In an interview on eNCA, the spokesperson of AFD said that the claims that foreigners are taking jobs are lunacy at best, no person can take someone’s job unless they hire themselves.
If they are taking your jobs then who is hiring them and who is the owner of the company? He said that it will be impossible for the South Africans who are complaining of foreigners taking jobs to hire them when they are in management positions or they own the company.
He also highlighted the fact that there is just 3% of foreign nationals compared to the total population we have in this country and to say that 3% is taking jobs of the 97% doesn’t make sense. Most foreign nationals have companies and small businesses that they are running which create employment for themselves. He urged South Africans to start companies and hire themselves.
