I heard other people expressing their anger towards Ukhozi FM presenter Zimiphi ‘Zimdollar’ Biyela’s act of complimenting maskandi artist Khuzani Mpungose’s new released album.
Zim dollar has recently shared a video of herself holding Khuzani’s new album. It looked like she took the video while in studio hosting her maskandi show. Many people on social media have been against Zim dollar’s doing saying this shows that she is siding with some artists when she’s supposed to treat all artists equally.
This complain needs to be taken seriously because maskandi industry is too competitive and almost every artist of this sort wish for his or her music to play on Ukhozi FM. Khathide Tshatha Ngobe was once suspended on air after he roughly responded to a listener who suspected him of siding with Khuzani Mpungose.
Maybe the main problem here is that Zimdollar’s video was shot at Ukhozi FM studios and this might look like it was the station’s view or she was sent by the station to do this, but then i have seen her dancing to other artists’ music which explains that she is a fan of maskandi music apart from being a presenter.
Presenters usually compliment songs before or after they play them on air, no one has ever had a problem with that. What most people need to understand is that radio presenters are not responsible for preparing songs to play on their shows, there are other people who are hired to select music. Presenters do not have a right to play their favourite artists on air no matter how much they love their music.
Presenters might have a right to discuss about which artist to invite on the show with the director. Otherwise it all depends on how you take this matter, as i have said that i hear people’s complains but i see nothing wrong with what Zimdollar done.
