There’s an extremely disturbing incident which occurred and it left people stunned as it is unexpected for learners to do such. A grade 11 learner got involved in a fight which resulted to that learner being stabbed by another school pupil. This incident took place today, it is an indication that social ills such as substance abuse and bullying are still persistent in the province. Rakgaole says it is exposing the behavior by some of the young people in different communities.
According to the Taxi Times news report, on Monday 8 November 2021 a horrific fight broke out amongst four Grade 11 learners at Magoletša High school in Medingen Village outside Kgapane, it’s alleged that the suspect pulled out a knife during the fight and started stabbing the three learners.
A grade 11 learner was alledgely stabbed to death on his way home after a fight broke out among learners at Kgapane(Medingen village) in Limpopo today, this morning.
The Limpopo Departments of Social Development and Education says it has dispatched teams of social workers for them to start with the provision of psychosocial support to the family of a grade 11 Magoletša High School learner who was stabbed to death after a fight broke out among learners in Medingen village in Kgapane.
Spokesperson of Social Development Witness Tiva says MEC for Social Development Nkakareng Rakgoale has condemned the incident, saying that it’s an indication that social ills such as substance abuse and bullying are still persistent in the province.
“The incident is once again exposing the behavior by some of our young people in different communities. This violent behavior by children must immediately come to an end. We are urging parents to keep a close eye on their children so that they can notice behavioral change and report to social workers for an immediate intervention.” says MEC Rakgoale.
Spokesperson, Witness Riva further says MEC Polly Boshielo has equally condemned the incident and calls on parents and other key stakeholders to be actively involved in supporting schools to deal with the scourge of bullying and abuse.
“It is so devastating and saddening that we had to loose a young life in this manner. This is something that needs all of us to collaborate on, to enforce laws prohibiting learners to carry dangerous weapons in schools and in communities. We accordingly send our condolences to the bereaved family and the entire school community”, said MEC Boshielo.
