Kaizer Chiefs have SUMMONED both Itumeleng Khune and Bernard Parker to discuss their futures at the club going forward.
Thesouthafrican.com has learnt through its reliable source within the Chiefs camp that the veteran duo have been called to a meeting by the club’s hierarchy.
However, it is unclear, at this stage, as to whether or not the Chiefs management is intending to hand them new contracts.
Khune and Parker saw their contracts expire at the end of June but arrangements were made for them to stay beyond June due to the CAF Champions League final that Chiefs had to play.
Parker, in particular, was handed a one-month extension while Khune was reported to have agreed to a one-year extension.
And this is because Chiefs had an option to renew Khune’s contract but the latest developments could certainly change everything.
Khune is Amakhosi’s longest serving member in the current squad having been part of the first team since 2004.
The now 34-year-old shot-stopper made his debut in 2006, and since then, Khune has been Amakhosi’s No.1
Parker, on the other hand, has been with Chiefs for 10 years – and he’s among the most experienced players in the team.
Parker’s teammate, Willard Katsande has already been shown the exit door as per media reports, and more players are expected to be released in the next few days.
