There is a growing tension between the black and Indian communities in Phoenix, KZN. The tension started when the Indian community took up arms to protect their store from looters, some were angry that their shops have been looted so they went on vigilantism.
Just like any vigilantism, things will always spiral out of control as people start to suspect each other as criminals. But Black people are getting profile in the process which fuels racial tension with some accusing the Indian of general having racial undertones towards black people.
Several people have been killed in the process and people are in the process of retaliatory attacks. Even the police minister Bheki Cele has expressed concern that so many people are armed and rustle other people, a sign that civilization might be collapsing in that area.
Some videos we have seen are too graphic to share but if the leadership doesn’t quickly wake up and calm the temperatures there might be bloodshed on the ground.
What I love about my people (black people) is that God gave us great hearts, we will literally forgive them (whites & Indians) and forget about what they did to us. We are the ones who will run to them to ask for reconciliation.#PhoenixMassacre Go to Phoenix Thamsanqa Gabuza pic.twitter.com/3FMir1bEV2
