A video of a man wearing a Ndebele traditional attire and being refused to shop at Clicks store, Boulders mall in Midrand is currently making waves on social media.
A Twitter user with the user name @thandomahlangu posted a video of himself wearing a colourful Ndebele traditional blanket with a traditional hat or crown while arguing with the shopping centre manager. He wrote: “Saddest reality in Africa, I was subjected to inside the @Clicks_SA store at The Boulders Shopping Center. By the center manager, who said it was his shopping complex. I was told that I’m wearing inappropriate I must go & Omega risk solutions harassed me.”
In the video, the man can be seen arguing with a man wearing a red jacket who calls himself the owner of the mall. The man in the red jacket can be heard telling Thando to go out of the store as his not dressed decently.
A lady can also be heard saying that the man should be allowed to shop as this is Africa and one should be allowed to dress in their tradition. After much deliberation, the man in centre manager then calls security to throw him out. Watch the video below:
