– Not even a national crisis can defeat Mzansi’s hustle with graduates celebrating their achievements
– #LockdownGraduationDay saw the creme of the crop coming out to play, rejoicing in the moment
– While circumstances mean celebrations are more low key than usual, students still had their moment to shine
Mzansi graduates celebrated graduation day this weekend, coronavirus or not, with the nation applauding their achievement.
South African students got dressed up and held a virtual celebration after completing their studies and thousands of people joined in the fun.
While lockdown restrictions mean that the usual festivities had to be put on ice, for now, the nation found a way to savour the moment.

Countless students took part in #LockdownGraduationDay and flexed their new lease on life online and peeps were living for it.
Zimkhitha Nosuta, a law graduate from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, commented
“From being the first one to pass matric to distinctions at home, to being the first one to go to University, yesterday I’d finally have been the first one to graduate at home.”
Undlunkulu Xoli, another graduate from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, shared that
“NSFAS made this possible. I hope my parents are looking down from above, proud.”
The fact that, despite all the stress, the nation was able to still find happiness and move forward should be a sign of hope to many that we will overcome.
