South Africa was thrust into panic mode on Thursday as Health Minister, Dr Zweli Mkhize confirmed the first case of a positive test of the novel Corona Virus in South Africa.
A 38-year-old man who arrived from Italy on 1 March has tested positive for COVID-19. He was traveling with a group of 10 people and landed at OR Tambo International Airport. He then flew to Durban.
The man, who is a father of two, started showing symptoms of fever, headache, malaise, a sore throat and not much of a cough on 3 March, has been in isolation since then.
The identity of the man has been withheld by the authorities, but social media users close to the man soon started posting details that led The Daily Post to the alleged identity of the man.
The man who is allegedly a parent at Cowan House Preparatory School in the Midlands of Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Cowan House Preparatory School on Thursday announced, through a statement issued by the school principal Mr Derek Braans and the chairman of the school board, Mr Andrew Barnes, that it has been brought to their attention that one of the parents at the school has tested positive for COVID-19 after returning from a trip to Italy.
Another parent at Cowan House Preparatory School soon identified the man as allegedly Mark Ror-Scott. The authorities have not yet officially confirmed the alleged identity of the man.
