Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that they aren’t finished making changes to the team as they look to end their worst ever trophy drought, with more decisions on the horizon.
Gustavo Páez, Hendrick Ekstein, Bhongolethu Jayiya, Virgil Vries and Khotso Malope were all shown the door recently, and Ryan Moon’s exit this week made it six departures from Naturena in preparation for the upcoming 2019/20 season.
As part of their statement confirming the fact that they would not be exercising the option in Moon’s contract, the club also added that his impending departure was not the end of their dealings with regards to players.
As part of the statement on their official website they said that, on top of the already announced exits, they are ‘in the process of making more changes to the team’, and that regular updates will be provided in the coming weeks’ – suggesting that fans can expect more movement.
Chiefs fans will be pleased to see the club being proactive in the build-up to next season, though they will be wary of being too happy until they’ve seen who the replacements are going to be.
Numerous other players, such as Mario Booysen, have been linked with leaving the club before the new campaign, though only time will tell who will be next out of the exit door.
