Despite reports suggesting Cristiano Ronaldo wants Jose Mourinho at Juventus, the Italian giants will not hire him, and the reason for this has now reportedly been revealed.
Names such Mourinho, Mauricio Pochettino, Antonio Conte and even Pep Guardiola have been linked with the Bianconeri hot seat since last week Friday, when Massimiliano Allegri and the Juve board confirmed they had decided to end their five-year working relationship, during which the Turin club won 11 trophies.
Superstar Ronaldo has reportedly put in a good word for his former Real Madrid boss Mourinho, but according to Sky Sports, Juventus cannot afford his services.
The Portuguese tactician is one of the highest-paid managers in world football, and would apparently come with salary demands the Serie A champions are not prepared to meet.
Ronaldo and Mourinho worked together at Los Blancos between 2010 and 2013, and while their relationship was not always perfect, the forward did enjoy some of his best goal returns under the manager.
The attacker struck 168 times in 164 matches with Mourinho as his boss, and assisted a further 49 strikes in that period too.
