“We’re Under Pressure From General Mkhwanazi & Khumalo To Drop Charge Against Khumalo” IDAC Says

The head of IDAC, Andrea Johnson, has alleged that the organisation is facing significant pressure from individuals he claims are linked to Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi and Dumisani Khumalo to withdraw corruption and fraud charges against Khumalo.

According to Johnson, supporters of Khumalo have been lobbying for the case to be dropped, arguing that the alleged offences amount to what they describe as “small corruption.” Johnson rejected that characterization, maintaining that all corruption allegations should be investigated thoroughly and resolved through the courts, regardless of their perceived scale.

Khumalo is currently facing corruption and fraud charges, although no court has ruled on the allegations and legal proceedings remain ongoing.

Johnson further alleged that granting immunity to Khumalo could undermine accountability within state institutions. He claimed that such a move would allow individuals accused of wrongdoing to avoid legal scrutiny while continuing to influence key areas of government.

The Head of IDAC, Andrea Johnson, says that IDAC is facing severe pressure from a mob of Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi & Dumisani Khumalo to drop all charges against Khumalo.

He also alleged that Khumalo’s actions had weakened Crime Intelligence through the appointment of individuals he described as unqualified to strategic positions, warning that such decisions could affect the effectiveness of intelligence operations and national security.

Johnson stressed that the integrity of public institutions depends on adherence to the rule of law and that no individual should be treated as being above the law.

The allegations have intensified public interest in the matter, with observers closely following developments surrounding both the case against Khumalo and Johnson’s claims of external pressure. At the time of publication, neither Mkhwanazi nor Khumalo had publicly responded to the allegations.
