Ex-Secretary General Dr. Mncwango Starts Legal War Against MK Party Spokesperson, Causing Complete ChaosDr. Bongani Mncwango, the former Secretary-General of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, has initiated high-profile legal actions against Sifiso Mahlangu, the party’s newly chosen national spokesperson, following hurtful comments made about his dismissal from office. This comes after 9 hours of Mashandu in Durban.

A new opposition movement, the MK Party, has restructured internally and changed leadership quickly in the last year. The party’s internal strife is on full display in this legal dispute. The disagreement arose when Mahlangu claimed that Mncwango’s dismissal was due to internal investigations into allegations of covert collaboration with the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP).In a vehement denial, Mncwango has described the accusations as an effort to discredit him, his political standing, and the party he leads. Quickly, with the help of his lawyers, he sued the spokeswoman for defamation, demanding an immediate public apology and hefty damages. He insists that there was no secret alliance with a rival party and that his dismissal from the secretariat was just a regular organisational shakeup.

The legal dispute has arisen during a delicate period for the MK Party, as they are attempting to establish a united front on a national level in anticipation of the KwaZulu-Natal local government elections. Coordination claims hold a lot of political clout in the area because of the long history of animosity between the party and the IFP.In an attempt to bolster the party’s public messaging, Mahlangu has justified his remarks since taking up his communications position. Legal professionals, however, caution that the party’s communications leadership could be exposed in court if they make grave accusations of political treachery without proof.

The party’s policy agenda could be overshadowed by the public backlash that is intensifying as court filings continue, which could reveal underlying distrust and internal instability.
