Kaizer Chiefs have decided to part ways with co coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze as their contracts expire, according to reports. The decision follows an internal review of the season by the club’s management and technical leadership.

Kaze and Ben Youssef guided Chiefs to their best league finish in six years, climbing from ninth place last season to third. Their work restored some optimism at the club after several difficult seasons.

Ben Youssef arrived at Chiefs alongside former head coach Nasreddine Nabi as part of his technical team. He signed a two year contract with an option to extend. Kaze joined midway through the season to replace Fernando Da Cruz, who left just weeks before the 2024-25 season. Kaze initially signed a one year deal, which was extended at the end of last season.

When the club parted ways with Nabi early in the just ended season, the duo stepped in to guide the team. Despite the improvement, Chiefs have opted to appoint a new head coach as part of a broader restructuring.

The club will be looking to close the gap on rivals Orlando Pirates, who won the league title for the first time in 14 years and also secured a treble. Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns won the CAF Champions League for the second time. Chiefs have qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
