Nhlamulo Ndlela has been removed as spokesperson for the uMkhonto weSizwe Party and from his position in Parliament. He has been replaced by Sifiso Mahlangu as the party’s mouthpiece for the time being.

The change follows a major restructuring announced by party president Jacob Zuma over the weekend. Zuma confirmed the disbanding of the party’s National High Command and the creation of a new MK Party Institute. Ndlela was initially listed as one of the senior party figures in the new Institute.

However, subsequent developments have confirmed Ndlela’s removal from both the spokesperson role and his parliamentary position. Sifiso Mahlangu has taken over as the MK Party’s interim spokesperson.

The party had previously indicated during its restructuring announcement that it identified threats including infiltration, factionalism, opportunism and position-based politics. The shake-up is aimed at transforming the MK Party from a conventional political party into what Zuma described as a broader liberation movement.

Further details regarding the reasons for Ndlela’s specific removal have not yet been provided by the party.
