Intercape has confirmed that one of its coaches was involved in an accident on the morning of 27 April 2026 at around 05:40. The coach was travelling from Cape Town to East London.

The crash happened approximately 3 kilometres after Jeffreys Bay on the N2, heading towards Gqeberha. There were 42 passengers on board at the time.

According to video footage from the coach’s onboard camera, a third-party vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane, leading to a head-on collision with the coach. The driver’s quick and professional response helped bring the vehicle to a controlled stop, prioritising passenger safety.

No passengers were injured. A replacement coach was sent out immediately, and all passengers were able to continue their journey safely.

Intercape extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of the driver of the third-party vehicle, who sadly died in the crash. The company also thanked emergency services for their quick response and assistance at the scene.
