Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi paid a visit to Mpumalanga on Thursday afternoon to offer his heartfelt condolences to the family of Member of Parliament Mazolman Skosana during what has been described as a deeply emotional time.
The visit formed part of a broader show of support from political leaders who travelled to stand in solidarity with the grieving family. It highlighted a shared commitment among leaders to come together in moments of loss, setting aside political differences to offer comfort and compassion.
Speaking during his visit, Lesufi stressed the importance of maintaining genuine relationships in public life, noting that true unity is tested during difficult times. He pointed out that support should not be limited to moments of celebration but should extend to periods of grief and hardship. He also conveyed a personal message of strength and comfort to the Skosana family, expressing hope that they would find peace as they navigate the painful loss. According to Lesufi, such moments serve as a reminder that politics is not only about policies and governance, but also about human connection and empathy.
The visit reflects a longstanding culture within South Africa’s political space, where leaders often rally around one another during times of personal tragedy. Members of the delegation encouraged the family to draw strength from the outpouring of support while also respecting their need for privacy. As condolences continue to come in, the priority remains on supporting the Skosana family through this period of mourning with dignity and care.
