Senior ANC officials, including party president Cyril Ramaphosa, are expected to hold a media briefing at Luthuli House in Johannesburg this morning.
The briefing will focus on the party’s Local Government Action Plan. The plan follows the ANC’s Councillor Roll Call held in September last year, which was attended by more than six thousand councillors and mayors.
Accountability for service delivery failures and restoring public trust ahead of the 2026 local government elections were key issues discussed at the gathering.
ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula said the party will outline progress made. He said the president will lead the briefing on the work done around the action plan on local government.
Mbalula added that party leadership will also engage directly with communities in Johannesburg. He said they will visit the Johannesburg metro to discuss the work done and the challenges faced. He said all top seven, NWC and NEC members will be deployed across the Johannesburg metro on Monday.
The ANC says the engagements form part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery at the local government level.
