Reality TV star Thato Immaculate Mthombeni has addressed speculation surrounding her divorce from Brendon Mthombeni, known as Gash1.

After she announced that their three-year marriage had ended, social media filled with theories about what could have gone wrong. Many assumed cheating may have played a role, especially given the couple’s public image as one of Big Brother Mzansi’s success stories.

Thato moved quickly to correct that narrative. On X, she wrote directly that she wanted to clear things up and confirmed that infidelity was not the cause.

Official statement and out of respect for our families I will not be commenting further : pic.twitter.com/lPldkVUVWs

Her response came after she initially revealed that the breakup was triggered by incidents in the past few days that she described as irreconcilable by her standards and values.

Despite her clarification, reactions online remained mixed. Some users respected her decision to keep certain details private, while others continued to speculate and questioned why she chose to speak out without fully explaining the situation.

Even so, Thato’s firm response drew a clear boundary, signalling that while she is willing to correct misinformation, she is not opening the door to further public scrutiny over the details of her marriage.
