Casric Stars chairman and coach Joseph ‘Bucs’ Mthombeni has addressed confusion surrounding his dual responsibilities at the club, clarifying that he does not handle both managerial and coaching roles alone. In an interview with iDiski Times, Mthombeni stressed that the club is jointly owned by himself and Caswell Mukansi, who serves as chairman. “I co-own the club with Mr. Caswell Mukansi. He’s the chairman, I’m the coach—we’re partners,” Mthombeni stated, highlighting their collaborative leadership approach.

This clarification follows increased scrutiny due to Casric Stars’ standout performance in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. The team has advanced to the Nedbank Cup semi-finals, where they will meet Durban City in pursuit of a final berth. Additionally, they are in a strong position for promotion, currently placed fourth in the league, only two points behind league leaders Milford FC.

Mthombeni pointed out that his coaching role stems from extensive experience, having progressed through amateur football and the ABC Motsepe League in both North West and Gauteng. After acquiring Free State Stars’ status, the club’s leadership appointed him to lead the team on the field. He noted that Mukansi manages administrative and strategic operations, enabling Mthombeni to concentrate on coaching—a division of responsibilities that has helped drive the club’s recent achievements.
