Sibonelo Nomvalo Takes Aim at Floyd Shivambu: “He Is Full of Himself”

The newly appointed Secretary-General of the MK Party, Sibonelo Nomvalo, has ignited fresh political tensions after launching a scathing critique of former party secretary-general Floyd Shivambu, questioning both his leadership style and long-term fit within the organization.

In a candid and pointed statement, Nomvalo did not hold back: “MK Party EX secretary General Floyd Shivambu is full of himself, I said to comrades upon his arrival at MK Party, this one is not going to last in the MK Party. We told them about Floyd & they said we were exaggerating.”

The remarks signal a deepening rift within the party’s leadership ranks and suggest that internal disagreements may have been brewing long before Shivambu’s reported fallout with key figures. Nomvalo’s comments portray a leadership that, in his view, failed to heed early warnings about Shivambu’s conduct and compatibility with the party’s values.

Political analysts say the statement is significant not only for its blunt tone but also for what it reveals about factional dynamics within the MK Party. By asserting that concerns were raised “upon his arrival,” Nomvalo positions himself and like-minded members as voices of foresight whose advice went unheeded.

Shivambu, a high-profile political figure with a strong public presence, has often been described as assertive and influential. However, critics within the MK Party now appear to interpret those traits as signs of overconfidence and disconnect from collective leadership principles.

Nomvalo’s remarks may also indicate an attempt to reset the party’s direction under his tenure. By openly criticizing his predecessor, he signals a potential shift toward a different leadership style—one that he may argue is more aligned with unity and internal cohesion.

The MK Party has yet to issue an official response to the comments, and it remains unclear whether Shivambu will address the allegations publicly. However, the statement has already sparked debate among supporters and observers, raising questions about the party’s internal stability and future trajectory.

As the situation unfolds, Nomvalo’s outspoken stance underscores a broader challenge facing political organizations: balancing strong personalities with collective discipline. Whether this public criticism will strengthen or further divide the MK Party remains to be seen, but it has undoubtedly brought internal tensions into sharp public focus.
