New developments have emerged at the ongoing Madlanga Commission after General Shiburi alleged during testimony that prominent South African political leader Julius Malema had a close relationship with senior police official Shadrack Sibiya.

According to General Shiburi, the connection between Malema and Sibiya was more than casual, describing the two men as “close friends.” His statement was made while answering questions before the commission, which is currently investigating a range of sensitive matters involving governance, law enforcement operations, and possible political influence.

The claim immediately drew attention from observers and legal analysts following the proceedings, as Malema is one of the most influential figures in South African politics and the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). Any suggestion of close ties between political leaders and senior law enforcement figures is likely to intensify scrutiny over the nature of such relationships and whether they may have influenced official decisions.

While presenting his testimony, General Shiburi did not immediately provide detailed evidence regarding the alleged friendship, but his remarks were recorded as part of the official proceedings of the commission. Commissioners are expected to examine the statement further as the hearings continue.

The testimony has already sparked discussion among political commentators and members of the public, with many awaiting responses or clarifications from the individuals mentioned. Neither Malema nor Sibiya had publicly responded to the allegation at the time of reporting.

The Madlanga Commission continues to hear evidence from various witnesses, and further testimonies are expected to shed more light on the relationships and events under investigation. Analysts say the coming days could bring additional revelations as the inquiry progresses.
