In Harare, Zimbabwe, Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, the son of the late President Robert Mugabe, is said to probably not go to prison after a shooting that got a lot of attention from newspapers and news websites. What happened is not very clear, but people say that Bellarmine Mugabe had something to do with it. According to papers that were given to the court, the gardener who was supposed to tell what he saw said that he “does not remember” who shot him. This has made it much harder for the people trying to prove he did it, and now nobody knows what will happen if they try to charge him with a crime.

People who know about the law say that because the gardener cannot say who shot him, the case might stop moving forward. When a case depends on someone saying what they saw, and that person cannot remember, the case often gets thrown out or the person gets a very small punishment, especially if there is no other proof that shows what really happened.

The people who are helping Bellarmine Mugabe in court have not said much, but people think they feel good about the case getting weaker. People who watch what happens in court say that because the Mugabe family is well known and has friends in the government, this might be helping the case in ways that are not easy to see.

Even though there might not be any punishment from the court right now, people in Zimbabwe are talking again about how some people get special treatment, who should be held responsible for what they do, and how powerful families can change what happens in court. Groups that work to make sure the government is fair and people who want the laws to be better keep asking for the court to show what is happening and to be fair to everyone, and they say that people have the right to see that what is wrong is punished, no matter who the person’s family is or what their family has done in politics.

The people of Zimbabwe have been watching to see what happens, and many are upset because they think that rich and powerful people are treated better than others. On social media, people are saying different things, with some people feeling happy and others being very angry, and they are asking for better ways to make sure that all people are treated the same way in court.

Nobody has said what the final decision is or what punishment will be given, but people who know about what is happening in court say that Bellarmine Mugabe will probably not go to prison unless someone finds new proof. The case shows how hard it is for Zimbabwe’s court system when people who are famous and powerful are involved in cases.

The people who work for the government have said that they will keep watching the case, but anything else that happens might depend on whether other people say what they saw or whether science can find proof of what happened, and so far, nothing has been found that clearly shows what took place.
