There are few details about the politician’s private life. Details of his marriage, including his wife and children, are unknown. He may still be single.

Panyaza Lesufi is a politician from South Africa, now in Gauteng province where he works for MEC for Education. he is 51 years old. He has been involved in politics since his school days. During his political career, he held various positions. It is his legacy to the field to create a new public institution that will revolutionize education in Gauteng.

Participation in politics

In addition to football, the now famous politician was also interested in politics. He got involved in politics during his school days in Tembisa, where he grew up. At the time, he was an active member of the popular democratic movement. Student activist Kennedy Nkoane recruited him to join an anti-apartheid group while he was attending Boitumelong Secondary School. Nikishi Lesfi, Panyaza’s brother and student leader at Northern University, had escaped from prison at the time. Nikki left his home country and became an active member of the African National Congress (ANC). Nikki’s experience motivated his younger brother to fight hard against apartheid.

Panyaza rose to prominence as a leader after participating in the South African Student Council (COSAS). After COSAS was banned, he attended his Tembisa Student Congress (TESO). He later joined and was an active member of the National Education Crisis Committee.

While studying at the University of Natal, he was actively involved in the activities of the South African Student Council (SASCO). He then became president of his SRC at the university. He was later awarded the University of Natal’s Chief Albert Ruturi Award in recognition of his efforts by former President Tambo Mbeki.

Because of his political commitments, the young politician clashed with the current authorities. In 1989 he spent a short time in Moderby Prison. In 1995, he was imprisoned for the second time in Durban City Prison for continuing to campaign for the freedom of South Africans while in his prison.

After the ANC’s revival, its politicians became heavily involved in shaping party structures. Panyaza Lesufi ANC chaired the party’s Tembisa branch for a total of three terms. He then became Deputy Regional Secretary of the ANC for the Kyalami region. He also started as the first deputy regional secretary of the Ekuruleni region. Lesufi Panyaza has been a member of the ANC State Administration since 2007. In his mid-2018 he was elected Regional Vice-Chairman of the ANC.

Panyaza was the spokesperson for the election of Ekuruleni’s first mayor. He was also a member of the task force that simultaneously created the South African Social Security Administration (SASSA). The team was led by Zora Squeaya, then Minister for Social Development.

The politician also worked closely with then-Minister of Police Nati Museswa in various capacities. Joined the basic education department established in 2014 as the first employee. That same year, he was elected to the Gauteng County Council.

This politician was appointed the new MEC of education in Gauteng after the election. He held it until his retirement in May 2019. This month, David Makhura appointed him his new MEC at his eGovernment and Money in Gauteng. The decision disappointed the public. The decision to bring Panyaza Lesufi back to training came after an ardent public outcry. He is the MEC for Education in Gauteng at the moment.
