Corruption Storm Hits ANC Again – Two NW Officials Suspended After Hawks Strike

The African National Congress (ANC) has responded swiftly in response to the arrest of two of its leaders on suspicion of corruption in connection with a municipal tender in the North West. On Thursday, the official announcement of the step-aside decision was made by the party. The Hawks made an arrest earlier this week of Raymond Moraile, who is the Bojanala Regional Secretary, and Peter Legong, who is an MMC in Madibeng. Both of these individuals are now serving in their respective capacities.

They have already generated shockwaves throughout the region as a result of their arrests. Investigations are currently being conducted by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation into a municipal tender that is suspected of having been handled in an irregular manner. It has been a while, according to the officials, that the inquiry has been going on. The African National Congress (ANC) stated that the step-aside order adheres to the Constitution as well as the party’s own guidelines. When leaders are confronted with significant offences, the party emphasised that it must take decisive action.

The African National Congress (ANC) asserts that this action endorses the work of the Integrity Commission. Cases that pose a threat to the party’s reputation in the public eye are still being monitored by the commission. At the most recent meeting of the National General Council, the leaders made it abundantly apparent that corruption is not something that can be accepted. According to them, communities lose trust in those in power when those in charge are accused of criminal activity.

Breaking news

The ANC has placed Bojanala Regional Secretary Raymond Moraile and Madibeng MMC Peter Legong on immediate step-aside following their arrest by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) over allegations of corruption in a municipal tender.

Specifically, the party indicated that if Moraile and Legong were to continue serving in their positions, it would be detrimental to the ANC’s prestige. They emphasised the significance of demonstrating impartiality throughout the course of the legal process. In accordance with the step-aside provision, the two officials are not permitted to participate in any official duties. And until the lawsuit is settled, they are required to abstain from participating in any party events. There has been a range of emotions voiced by members of the Madibeng and Bojanala communities.

Some people believe that the African National Congress (ANC) is finally taking corruption seriously. There are many who believe that the action was taken too late and that more officials ought to be held accountable. There is a desire among them for the party to clean up all levels of government. Full information regarding the tender that is involved has not been made public by the Hawks. As far as they are concerned, investigations are still in a delicate stage.

The ANC has reiterated that the step-aside is only a temporary measure. It will continue to be in effect until the courts conclude their investigation into the allegations of corruption. For the time being, both officials are engaged in a challenging court struggle. The African National Congress (ANC) has expressed its hope that the lawsuit will bring clarity and restore trust in the region.
