Tshwane District Police are urging members of the public who believe they were victimized by an arrested legal professional to contact authorities immediately. Advocate Amoidahh Manamela was taken into custody by Lyttelton detectives on Monday, 1 December 2015, following numerous complaints alleging fraudulent behavior. The suspect faces multiple criminal charges, including theft and fraud, according to Tshwane district police spokesperson Captain Johan van Dyk. This action stems from a rise in client reports claiming they were exploited or abandoned financially after retaining her legal services.

Reports indicate that some victims paid Manamela money intended for court settlements, applications, or representation, yet the promised services were never delivered. Other complainants assert she vanished entirely after receiving payment, leaving their legal issues unresolved. Investigators suspect more victims exist who have not yet reported their experiences, perhaps due to fear or uncertainty about qualifying as misconduct. Captain van Dyk strongly advises anyone who retained Advocate Manamela and feels they were wronged to contact the Lyttelton detective branch or their nearest police station.

The ongoing investigation seeks additional statements to build a robust case and ensure justice for those harmed. Manamela’s arrest has shocked community members who trusted her services. Police confirm they are taking the matter seriously, emphasizing that the justice system includes measures to hold legal practitioners accountable. Manamela is scheduled for a court appearance as the investigation continues. Anyone with relevant information should reach out to the Lyttelton SAPS or the Tshwane District Fraud Unit.
