Ukhozi FM, South Africa’s largest isiZulu radio station and one of the most influential broadcasters on the continent, has officially announced the appointment of Ziphelele Ndokweni as its new Marketing Manager – a strategic move aimed at strengthening the station’s brand presence in an increasingly competitive media landscape.

Ndokweni steps into the role with an impressive academic and professional background, bringing a blend of creativity, digital expertise, and strategic marketing insight. She holds an Advanced Diploma in Brand Innovation (Post-Graduate) from Vega School, one of the country’s leading institutions in creative and brand leadership. In addition, she has secured a Digital Marketing Certificate from the Red & Yellow Creative School of Business, as well as a Marketing Management Diploma from the Institute of Marketing Management (IMM), solidifying her foundation in both traditional and modern marketing practices.

Her appointment comes at a time when Ukhozi FM is expanding its digital footprint while maintaining its stronghold as a cultural and broadcasting powerhouse. With over 7 million listeners nationwide, the station relies heavily on strategic marketing to sustain its audience engagement, grow market share, and ensure relevance across evolving platforms – from traditional radio to digital streams and social media.

Industry experts say Ndokweni’s academic training in digital marketing and brand innovation aligns perfectly with Ukhozi FM’s current trajectory. Her role is expected to focus on strengthening brand identity, driving audience-centered campaigns, and leveraging digital tools to reach younger listeners without alienating the station’s long-standing audience.

In a statement, Ukhozi FM’s management expressed confidence in their new appointee, noting that her blend of qualifications and creative flair positions her as the right leader to oversee the station’s marketing evolution. “Ziphelele brings fresh energy, modern marketing thinking, and an in-depth understanding of audience behaviour. We are confident she will elevate Ukhozi FM’s brand to new heights.”

Colleagues describe Ndokweni as a dynamic strategist with a passion for storytelling, innovation, and community-focused marketing – traits that resonate deeply with Ukhozi FM’s mandate as a public broadcaster.

As Ukhozi FM continues to shape South Africa’s media landscape, Ndokweni’s appointment signals a renewed commitment to excellence, innovation, and listener connection. Her vision will likely play a central role in steering one of the country’s most influential radio brands into its next chapter.
