The Hawks have confirmed that a well-known media personality is under investigation for allegedly receiving a substantial amount of money from a foreign country and transferring a portion of it to several victims linked to an ongoing case. According to Hawks spokesperson Katlego Mogale, the payments form part of a broader probe into suspected financial irregularities and possible wrongdoing involving the accused and their associates.

Mogale told Rush News that investigators traced a significant inflow of funds from an undisclosed foreign nation into the personality’s bank account. Preliminary findings allegedly show that some of this money was redirected to individuals identified as victims in the case, raising questions about the purpose of the transactions and whether they were made under duress, as compensation, or as part of an illicit financial scheme.

“Investigators have established that the media personality received a large sum of money from outside South Africa,” Mogale said. “A portion of that amount was transferred to victims in the matter. At this stage, the exact motive behind these transactions remains a subject of investigation.”

The Hawks have not yet disclosed the total amount received or the exact number of victims involved. They also noted that further financial analysis is underway to determine whether additional individuals or international networks played a role.

Several suspects connected to the case have been arrested and are expected to make their first court appearance at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Monday. Authorities indicated that the suspects may face charges related to financial misconduct, fraud, and contraventions of South Africa’s financial regulations. Additional charges may be added pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.

The identity of the media personality has not been officially released, as the investigation is still at a sensitive stage. However, the case has already drawn significant public interest on social media, with many users calling for transparency and accountability, especially given the involvement of public figures.

The Hawks have urged the public to allow the investigation to unfold without interference and encouraged anyone with relevant information to come forward.
