Floyd Shivambu Finally Breaks Silence After His Party Bigwigs Started Resigning One After The Other

Deputy secretary general Gabsile Cynthia Shongwe and fellow deputy secretary general Luther Lebelo have formally notified the party’s leadership of their resignations, each sending separate letters confirming their decisions to step down. Their exit adds to the growing number of senior figures departing from the young movement, raising fresh questions about its internal cohesion and future direction.

The departures come at a moment when the organisation is trying to cement its identity and establish stability. With two key officials choosing to walk away in quick succession, the movement finds itself navigating both the practical and symbolic implications of losing prominent leaders who were instrumental during its formative stages.

In response to the resignations, Floyd Shivambu released a statement titled “RECONFIGURATION OF MAYIBUYE National Officials.” His message framed the moment not as a setback but as a deliberate and necessary shift. He referenced what the National Officials described as a “Separation of Wheat from Chaff,” describing the decision to reconfigure the leadership structure as a conscious step toward strengthening the movement’s core.

According to Shivambu, this restructuring is far more than an administrative reshuffle. He highlighted that “This reconfiguration signifies no mere administrative adjustment. It declares boldly the Movement’s unbreakable solidarity. It affirms readiness to escalate the struggle for total freedom and emancipation now, land restitution, and social justice now!” The statement asserts a renewed sense of purpose, casting the organisational changes as part of a broader mission to intensify the struggle for justice and equality.

While the resignations signal internal challenges, the leadership’s tone suggests an eagerness to project resilience. The message from Shivambu attempts to recast the moment as one of clarity and consolidation—an effort to assure supporters that the movement’s direction remains intact despite the turbulence.

As the organisation enters this new phase, the contrast between the quiet departure of senior officials and the bold rhetoric of renewal shapes the narrative. Whether the reconfiguration will stabilise the movement or expose deeper organisational strains remains to be seen, but the developments underline a pivotal moment in its evolution.
