Kaizer Chiefs began their CAF Confederation Cup campaign with a 2-1 loss to Egypt’s Al Masry after a late defensive error cost them a point. The Soweto giants had equalized through Dillan Solomons after conceding an early goal, but a mistake by defender Inacio Miguel allowed the home side to score a winner.

Fans expressed frustration on social media, with many criticizing the team selection and Miguel’s performance. The team will now prepare to host Egyptian side Zamalek in their next group match.

Chiefs fans took to social media to react after their side conceded a late goal.

@khani_hlahla wrote: “Stop forcing Mmodi and Du Preez down our throats …..what more do you want Vilakazi to do to prove his worth? We started playing after those subscribers…also bring Monyane back..Miguel, if not getting a useless card..he made a mistake that cost us.

@sirgoatedza wrote: “No need to panic. We still have 5 games to go. We just need to fix those errors we have at the back. Miguel was our weakest link from second half. He plays with lots of emotions, but other than that we will beat this team handsomely here back home. Our boys tried to be honest.”

Kaizer Chiefs already lost two CAF CONFED matches
@SelebaloMmereki wrote: “You have a winning team that’s proper and you decide to start Mmodi and Du Perez and with the worst defender like Miguel then you shouldn’t be surprised when you don’t win.”
