Mbalula Calls Brown Mogotsi a “Disgruntled Information Peddler” Before Defamation Trial

ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula has hit back strongly at North West businessman Brown Mogotsi, calling him a “disgruntled information peddler”. The sharp words come just before a defamation case that Mbalula has brought against Mogotsi.

Mogotsi accused Mbalula of wrongdoing, claiming the ANC leader used improper political influence and was involved in other irregular activities. Mbalula completely rejects these claims. His lawyers have now taken Mogotsi to court for defamation, saying the accusations are false and damage his name.

Speaking to the media, Mbalula said Mogotsi’s statements have no proof. He also said that if Mogotsi is still an ANC member, his behaviour is unacceptable and brings shame to the party.

Mogotsi insists he is still a proper ANC member and stands by everything he said. Some people point out that Mogotsi has been linked to controversial political and police networks in the past. Critics say this background helps him make bold claims and use his connections.

The court case is expected to start soon. It will be closely watched because both men hold strong positions. Mbalula wants the judge to clear his reputation. Mogotsi says he will prove his accusations are true.

This fight has sparked fresh public talk about honesty and responsibility inside the ANC. Many South Africans are asking how the ruling party deals with serious allegations against its top leaders and how it treats members who speak out.

For now, the two sides are preparing their evidence. The outcome of the trial could affect trust in Mbalula and show whether the ANC is willing to let courts openly test claims made against its leaders.

The case is another sign of tensions inside the ANC as the party faces growing criticism from both outsiders and people within its own ranks.
