North West businessman Brown Mogotsi faced intense questioning about his credibility at the Madlanga Commission. Under cross-examination, advocate Matthew Chaskalson referred to Mogotsi as a “professional liar,” pointing out that Mogotsi had previously admitted to providing false information in sworn affidavits.
Mogotsi objected to the characterization, stating the comment “hurts.” He had previously defended his inaccurate statements as “misdirection” necessary for his work.
The exchange occurred during testimony where Mogotsi’s claims about being a Crime Intelligence agent and his interactions with senior officials are being scrutinized. The moment quickly gained attention on social media, drawing significant public reaction.
Mogotsi is expected to continue his testimony under cross-examination.
