In a sold-out Betway Premiership clash at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on November 1, 2025, Mamelodi Sundowns took the lead through Peter Shalulile’s 20th-minute goal, only for Orlando Pirates’ Cemran Dansin to equalize 15 minutes later before over 51,000 fans. Sundowns top the table with 21 points from seven wins, while unbeaten-in-five Pirates hold second place with 18 points, setting up a tense second half in this historic rivalry.
Absent for Sundowns was suspended midfielder Teboho Mokoena, as both teams vie for supremacy in the title race.
