Sexual Harassment Allegations In the Midst of Domestic Unrest, the Afrika Mayibuye Movement Led by Rock Floyd Shivambu There is a major scandal between Floyd Shivambu, who was the deputy leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), and Nolubabalo Mcinga, who is the deputy president of the newly formed Afrika Mayibuye Movement (AMM).

In a series of damaging social media posts, Mcinga claimed that the party bosses were plotting an attack on her. Party members, she claimed, “organised sexual harassment” by smearing her character with lies, threatening her, and encouraging her to stay silent. Some members apparently called her a “spy” as well. Given the movement’s stated commitment to social justice and ethical leadership from the beginning, political observers and supporters are both astonished and frightened by Mcinga’s claims.

Her accusers have cast doubt on the AMM’s ability to deal with internal matters, suggesting deep divisions among the organization’s highest ranks. After attempting to handle the matter privately, she felt ignored and mistreated, so she decided to voice her displeasure publicly. New conversations regarding the pervasiveness of intimidation and misogyny in South African politics have also been ignited by the topic.

Political movements should be investigated with the same rigour as any other entity, according to several who have called for an open investigation into Mcinga’s accusations. The critics argue that if the accusations are true, it shows how hypocritical the group is that claims to be an instrument for justice and change.

As the story unfolds, Floyd Shivambu and the Afrika Mayibuye Movement have chosen to stay silent, choosing not to address Mcinga’s accusations. The party’s leaders’ prolonged silence has weakened its credibility and fuelled allegations of internal power struggles; the party had earlier promised to steer South African politics in a new path.
