Police officers from the Table View Police Station have been arrested for allegedly selling blank, signed, and commissioned affidavit forms to the public for R100 each.
Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembile Patekile condemned the officers’ actions, emphasizing that corruption within the police force will not be tolerated.
The officers remain in custody and are expected to appear in court soon.
The investigation began after one of these affidavits was discovered at a crime scene in Table View late last year. The arrested officers, a 41-year-old sergeant and a 31-year-old constable, now face charges of corruption and defeating the ends of justice.
