KwaZulu-Natal police killed two suspects in their 30s during an early morning raid in Waterfall, north of Durban, after the men opened fire on officers around 3 a.m. Authorities recovered firearms and explosives from the secure estate complex, linking the suspects to multiple cash-in-transit heists in the province since 2022, including attacks in KwaDukuza and Phoenix.
The operation, overseen by Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, follows recent similar takedowns and underscores efforts to combat rising armed robbery syndicates amid over 50 nationwide incidents this year.
