South African streaming service Showmax has announced a new five-part documentary titled ‘Slay Queens,’ set to premiere on October 31, 2025.
The series will explore the lives of women pursuing a ‘soft life’ of luxury through relationships and business ventures. It features personal stories from influencers, including Cyan Boujee, and includes commentary from author Jackie Phamotse and other public figures.
The documentary details various survival strategies in a challenging economy, such as receiving monthly allowances. It arrives at a time when South Africa is grappling with high youth unemployment, offering a look at the intersection of ambition, survival, and modern societal dynamics.
