Pressure Mounts on NPA to Charge Mbalula Over Dubai Holiday

AfriForum’s Private Prosecution Unit has called on the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to review its decision not to prosecute former sports minister Fikile Mbalula over his controversial 2016 family trip to Dubai.

The organisation says there is enough evidence to pursue charges relating to alleged corruption and violations of the Executive Members’ Ethics Act. The trip was reportedly funded by a sporting goods supplier, a matter previously probed by the Public Protector.
AfriForum argues that the NPA’s decision undermines accountability and has vowed to take further legal steps if necessary. The NPA has maintained that there is insufficient evidence to secure a conviction.
