A 24-year-old man was arrested at the Stockpoort border post in Limpopo after police discovered R1.75 million in undeclared cash hidden in the boot of the rented vehicle he was driving.
The suspect was intercepted while attempting to cross into Botswana. Police said the money, stashed in a bag inside the car’s trunk, was discovered during a routine search by border officials.
Preliminary investigations suggested that the incident may be linked to money laundering activities.
The man was charged with money laundering and appeared in the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court shortly after his arrest.
