KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi is entangled in a high-stakes conflict between the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry and Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee, both demanding his testimony on corruption allegations against South Africa’s police and judiciary officials.

Raised in March 2025 and publicized in July, Mkhwanazi’s claims accuse figures like Police Minister Senzo Mchunu and Deputy Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya of graft and interference. With hearings set for September 17 in Tshwane, EFF leader Julius Malema has called for Mkhwanazi to prioritize Parliament, escalating tensions and risking delays that could erode public trust in the probes.

Gen Mkhwanazi has NEVER refused to appear before Adhoc Committee nor is he playing hard to get.
He communicated the reality that the Madlanga Commission has booked him until the 24 Sep 2025.
If the adhoc committee or Public Protector want him earlier they must approach Madlanga🤷🏿‍♀️ pic.twitter.com/lHNxeGajXk
