Actress Phumeza Shoba has filed for divorce from her husband, house music singer Mnqobi Shoba, after 11 years of marriage. Sources close to the couple allege the split is due to infidelity and emotional abuse.
According to insiders, Phumeza, known for her role in “Sokhulu and Partners,” walked away from the marriage in July and has instructed her lawyers to proceed with the divorce. The sources claim that despite her initial attempts to separate amicably, Mnqobi’s alleged cheating was the “last straw” that ended the relationship.
The couple’s marriage had reportedly been under strain for some time due to frequent arguments and differing views on their relationship.
If the divorce moves forward, Phumeza is seeking a fair share of the assets they acquired together during their marriage. This includes luxury vehicles. She is also asking for spousal maintenance and child support for their partially blind child.
Attempts to reach Mnqobi for comment were unsuccessful. When contacted, Phumeza denied the split, saying, “No it’s not true.” However, sources close to the situation maintain that legal proceedings are underway.
The potential divorce marks a difficult end to what was once a high-profile marriage in the South African entertainment industry. While some friends hope for an out-of-court resolution, all signs point toward a legal settlement.
