Following their Nedbank Cup victory, Kaizer Chiefs have donated a new multipurpose sports court to Phulong Secondary School in Kwa-Thema, Springs.

The official unveiling took place on Wednesday, with dignitaries from the football club, Nedbank, and local government in attendance. The new facility can be used for soccer, netball, and basketball and will serve the school and the wider community.

The donation is part of the rewards that come with winning the Nedbank Cup. Kaizer Chiefs ended a ten-year trophy drought by winning the competition.

Speaking at the event, Kaizer Chiefs’ marketing director, Jessica Motaung, explained that the area was chosen because it is home to club legends and is a community important to the team. She stated that the court is more than just a facility; it is a place for young people to dream and for the community to come together.

Local officials and representatives from sports bodies welcomed the investment. They emphasized that school sports are the foundation for developing future athletes and urged the community to protect and maintain the new court.

The Gauteng Education MEC, Matome Chiloane, praised the donation, calling Gauteng the “home of champions.” The deputy minister of basic education officially handed the responsibility for the court’s care to the school’s governing body.

In addition to the court, Nedbank handed over soccer kits to Phulong Secondary and several other local schools and football clubs. The event was celebrated as a significant investment in youth development and community sports.
