Former African National Congress (ANC) national spokesperson Pule Mabe has reiterated his commitment to the party despite facing corruption charges.
Mabe, who stepped aside from the ANC’s National Executive Committee after being charged last year, spoke to the media outside the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court following a brief appearance.
He, his wife, and five others are accused of fraud, corruption, and contravening the Public Finance Management Act in connection with a R27 million tender linked to his company, Enviro Mobi. The case has been postponed to 18 February next year.
Mabe dismissed suggestions that his legal troubles might distance him from the ANC. “I didn’t leave the ANC because I’m suddenly facing a charge. For as long as I live, I belong to that organisation. If tomorrow we are voting, I will vote for the ANC,” he said.
