“I Will Not Bow, I Will Not Be Bullied” Anele Refuses to Apologize To Mbalula Despite Court Order

Anele Mda has demonstrated a great spirit of opposition by being steadfast in her attitude in response to the demand made by Fikile Mbalula, the Secretary-General of the African National Congress. Even though she was given a court order from the Gauteng High Court that gave her only twenty-four hours to apologize and retract her assertions that Mbalula was connected to the murder of Wandile Bozwana in 2015, Anele did not back down from her position.

Instead, she responded with confidence, asserting that she would not give in to what she perceives to be pressure. The statement that she made was crystal clear: “In the words of Cyril Ramaphosa, I will not bow, and I will not be bullied at any time.” Even if the court is weighing against her, she is resolute in her determination to not be bullied or coerced into silence, and these lines convey her strong determination.

When Anele Mda made remarks that connected Fikile Mbalula to a severe crime, specifically the murder of Wandile Bozwana, which took place in 2015, the situation began to develop. Due to the fact that this charge was deemed to be untrue, legal action was taken. An immediate response was issued by the Gauteng High Court, which issued a stringent order ordering that Anele publicly apologize and retract her words.

According to the decision, she had only one day to comply with the order. The court’s ruling was unambiguous and made in a short amount of time, demonstrating how seriously they took the dissemination of what they referred to as misleading information.

Anele made the decision to maintain her steadfastness in spite of the pressure she was under from the law and from the highest official in the African National Congress. The fact that she responded by paraphrasing President Cyril Ramaphosa communicated a powerful message in and of itself. She made it clear that she will not give up her position without a fight and that she will continue to speak out at all times, regardless of the efforts that are made to prevent her from doing so.

In addition to highlighting a tense dispute between two individuals, this rejection also reveals a larger picture of political struggle inside the African National Congress (ANC), where silence or submission is not tolerated by all members of the organization.
