Gigaba, Mchunu to be disciplined for ‘casting aspersions’ on character and unity of ANC

The African National Congress (ANC) has reaffirmed its commitment to internal discipline after public criticisms from two of its senior members, Malusi Gigaba and Senzo Mchunu. The party stated that such remarks undermine unity and damage its public image, especially during a period of significant political and economic challenges.

While specific measures were not detailed, the ANC confirmed it would take “necessary steps” to address the comments made by Gigaba and Mchunu, both of whom had raised concerns about the party’s direction and leadership. The party emphasized that internal channels, rather than public statements, should be used to voice disagreements.

This response highlights the ANC’s effort to maintain cohesion and present a united front ahead of upcoming elections. The leadership reiterated that all members—particularly those in high-ranking positions—are expected to uphold the party’s values and reputation.

By addressing the issue formally, the ANC aims to reinforce discipline and accountability within its ranks while preventing public disputes from weakening its political standing.
