The High Court in Pretoria has reserved its judgment in President Cyril Ramaphosa application to delay a constitutional damages case of families and survivors of apartheid-era crimes.

This was heard on Wednesday when the matter went to court.

The government’s application seeks to reinstate its opposition in the case and is requesting a postponement or a stay of the main.

At least 25 families and survivors of apartheid-era crimes are challenging the governement and Ramaphosa in court.

The families are demanding R167-million for what they call the state’s “gross failure” to adequately investigate and prosecute political crimes that were identified by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
