Authorities are looking into a possible connection between the failed shooting of actress Tebogo Thobejane and the 2022 murder of DJ and businessman DJ Sumbody.

Sources say a businessman recently arrested in connection with Thobejane’s attack may also be linked to DJ Sumbody’s killing. The suspect is believed to be involved in questionable business deals. Investigators found WhatsApp messages and payment records showing he allegedly hired hitmen to target Thobejane.

Thobejane survived the 2023 attack when her car was shot at on a Johannesburg highway. She was wounded, and a friend with her was left paralyzed. Reports say the attackers were told to make the assault “so brutal that her family wouldn’t recognize her.”

DJ Sumbody, whose real name was Oupa Sefoka, was killed in a shooting in Woodmead in November 2022. His case remains unsolved, but detectives are now checking for ties to Thobejane’s attack.

No arrests have been made yet in DJ Sumbody’s murder, but the new developments have brought fresh attention to the case, with calls for justice growing louder.
