MK Party’s Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla Warns of Renewed Unrest Over Police Commissioner Dispute

Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, daughter of MK Party leader Jacob Zuma, has issued a stark warning of potential renewed July-style unrest amid a political standoff over KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.

The MK Party is demanding the removal of Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, currently on leave, alleging his involvement with criminal networks. They have also called for President Cyril Ramaphosa’s resignation.

In a recent Instagram post alongside protest march details, Zuma-Sambudla declared: “Once they touch him, there will be trouble. Round two will be worse.” This follows her earlier post stating: “Let them touch you. We’re ready for round two!”

The remarks recall Zuma-Sambudla’s controversial social media activity during the 2021 July riots, when she shared videos of looting and violence following her father’s imprisonment.

The latest threats come as tensions escalate between the MK Party and national government, raising concerns about potential instability. Authorities have not yet responded to the MK Party’s demands or the inflammatory statements.

Analysts warn that such rhetoric risks reigniting the violent unrest that claimed over 300 lives in 2021, while the MK Party maintains it is defending against political interference in law enforcement.

The situation remains volatile as South Africa watches for further developments in this high-stakes political confrontation.
